Quandamooka Coast offer unforgettable Quandamooka cultural experiences for educational and corporate groups including educational talks on our history, geography and culture or workshops that combine entertainment and activities that are inclusive and low-risk. Activities in your Cultural Experience package that can be customised to meet your needs include elements such as artefact talks, boomerang throwing, dot painting, fire-starting with sticks or learning a tribal song and dance.
The Quandamooka Coast team can also help to book a local Aboriginal Dance Group, Song Man or Didgeridoo player for your next event. The Quandamooka Coast bookings team can also help organise a Welcome to Country or smoking ceremony for your next event on Quandamooka Country.
Welcome to Country
A Quandamooka Elder will join you at your event and perform a traditional Welcome to Country. As Custodians of Quandamooka Country, our Elders and Traditional Owners are well versed in paying respects to our People’s past and present.
This traditional ceremony using Quandamooka dancers and songman can be booked for events.
A smoking ceremony is an ancient indigenous custom where our traditional Aboriginal dancers burn native fauna to produce smoke. This tradition produces cleansing properties and has the ability to ward off bad spirits from the people and the land and signifies the pathway for a brighter future.
Aboriginal Dance Workshop
$500 (2hr workshop – Max 10 people)
Our dance workshop takes you on a story-telling journey and creates a platform for the introduction to Aboriginal dance moves.
Stories weave through the fabric of Aboriginal culture. To understand the dance, you must first listen to the story it represents, then you will see it performed. Your group will be shown the movements of the dance starting with the footwork and finishing with the arm and hand movements. You will also learn about the symbolic meaning behind the different dance movements.
